Country barn glam . A styled shoot
Picking favorites from this styled shoot was harder than I ever would have imagined. I worked with such incredible and talented people putting it together that a) I didn’t want it to end and b) I can’t wait to do it again. Since I can’t put up the hundreds of photos I took here are some of my very favorites.
Country barn glam was the theme and Kasia’s tattoos were the inspiration. I’ve been feeling drawn to the look of a dark softness, a little bit of edge mixed with a whole lot of natural beauty, so black, navy blue and purple just felt right as the colour palette and Vera Wang seemed like the perfect designer to off-set it.
Matthew Somers of It’s a Matter of Cake created all five incredible cakes with simple, clean, elegant lines and spiced it up with an edgy black veil and gorgeous handmade sugar flower hydrangeas and anemones. It smelled incredible! The black bow on the bottom of the cake was inspired by Vera Wang’s 2011 Spring line which has a lot of oversized bows and mirrored the large black bow on our bride’s Vera Wang gown. Subtle, cute, elegant and edgy.
Erin Carmichael of Full Bloom Floral Design blew me away with her incredible creations as well. She helped me take this shoot two million times farther than I thought it could go. Inspired by the barn, tattoos, and the black, purple and navy colour palette her take was edgy, rock and roll meets rustic glam. She used the candleabras to brighten the dark linens and flowers and give the shoot that glam elegance that we were looking for. Black baccara roses, black callas and dark purple lysianthus created a dark and messy look flowing out above the table. For the bouquet, she wanted to tie in the rustic wood with the pussy willow and lighten it with the white and black anemones, which matched the dress perfectly.
Huge thanks to Jasmine and Stacey, Sean, Tracy, Jannie, Kasia, and Rachael for the incredible collaboration. Hope you like what you see.
